Pottery kiln identified at Školjić in Gonaru (Island of Rab)!
During research carried out from the 24th to the 27th April 2016 at Lopar (Rab island), selected sites have been surveyed to check the potential of pottery production traces. During survey at Gonar (Island of Rab), traces of a destroyed kiln have been identified on the southern coast of Školjić peninsula. Most of the kiln’s structure has been, with all probability, damaged by the sea, although traces of its fill are visible in the eroded profile of the coast, while further evidence is provided by the fired bedrock and scattered fragments of its structure. Finds gathered in the vicinity might point to a Roman date of the site.
